Self Improvement: All Flowers Grow In Dirt

People need to go through hard times, go through a struggle, a heartbreak, a failure, to become a better and stronger person. Times get tough and sometimes we have to remind ourselves that flowers have to grow through the dirt.

Everyone has to fight their own demons & their own battles; everyone goes through something. Sometimes people feel like they will never overcome it or feel okay again. But what I want you to do is look back at every obstacle you have experienced in your life. When you didn’t feel like you could make it or that it wouldn’t ever be okay again. And compare how you felt then, to who you are now!

Odds are, you’re probably okay, probably stronger, and probably a better person.

“All Flowers Grow In Dirt”

Its a quote I have seen many times, and the underlying meaning is very accurate. Flowers are beautiful, they are bright and stand tall. Just like you and me. But, they grow through the dirt, every single one of them. So just like you and me, we have to experience and learn from something hard, ugly, or bad to get to the beautiful and bright side of life.

When you are listening to someone give you advice, more times than not, they are speaking from a previous failure, instead of a success. Failures show you where you should be, that things will turn out for the best, and that you can come back stronger. You learn more from failing, whether you realize it or not at the time. A lot of things in life can’t be taught verbally or even by watching someone else, you have to go through them. And a lot of those things in life, won’t be pretty or fun. But at the end of the day, you are continuing to grow and become stronger.

So remember, that no matter how hard things get, you will be beautiful and bright just like a flower. You will get to the beautiful parts of life.

  1. Another relevant term: no pain, no gain! Gold wasn’t that beautiful when it was found. It first had to be brought through the fire to get rid of the impurities!

  2. I love this quote, and I had actually never seen it before – but it sums it ALL up! 🙂 By the way, welcome to the wonderful world of blogging. I predict you will get addicted!!

  3. I really love this post, Sierra. As a fellow college student, I think it’s especially important that we all remember this. A grade doesn’t define us, and there are always more opportunities to grow.
